there was a surprise appearance by our first lady, michelle obama the honor of announcing the best picture winner, that's the big award of the night, there's jack nicholson introducing michelle obama, saying it's argo, yea, yea, yea and you say the drama we saw from the first lady at the academy awards is nothing compared to what's happening with the president and his friends in the white house. >> and the best actor in a drama award has to go to barack obama and it has been really since the republicans won in 2010, inside divided government. if you think about it we've got a four year long budget battle that we're just halfway through. and, but we have this endless budget battle that's going on and each time the president finds these crises, makes them sound and look as bad as possible, to get what he wants. think about the fiscal cliff we talked about at the beginning of the year. that wasn't a cliff they had a year to deal with the tax rate, by building up the momentum and the pressure and drama up to the deadline, remember, they hadn't done anything, nothing would have happened. they had all year t

, people can say what they want. there was a piece in the "washington post" style section about michelle obama's derriere. people can talk about these public figures and they have to be tough enough to take it. and to either ignore it or chime in or eat a doughnut or put up those barriers around them that don't allow it to get to them. but chris christie did say that he doesn't like when people, who are not the funny men, when people come after him and say there is an obesity epidemic and you are part of the problem and you're not setting a leadership role in america. he doesn't like it. he gets very testy. >> you got to show you have a sense of humor, brooke. you have to. i once had a celebrity friend overweight, she is like the media is relentless toward me. i said it is because you're the easy target, you don't laugh. the minute she got in on the joke, they stopped poking fun at her. she's thankfully taken control of her health and lost a significant amount of weight. you have to show you have a sense of humor, otherwise the jokes are mean. >> he did, he said, look, i've done the work

in a few moments and we'll try to learn how to make a bed properly after all these years. >>> michelle obama opens up about the bangs and she's pretty candid about what motivated her to have a whole new look. >>> we'll start this hour with the controversial cameras used to catch you running red lights. many people argue they're often inaccurate or unfair. tom costello has been looking into that story. tom, good morning to you. >> reporter: savannah, good morning. 24 states and d.c. allow these red light cameras. nine states ban them. fairness is the big issue. in court, depending where you are, you might be able to ask a police officer about the ticket he wrote you, but you can't do that with a camera and the camera presumes that you're guilty, not innocent. they can be horrific crashes, red light runners are especially dangerous because the people they hit are usually caught completely by surprise. each year, some 700 people die and 122,000 are injured in accidents involving a driver who ran the red. to cut into that rate, more than 540 communities nationwide have turned to red light
